Toes In The Grass

Today, I was frustrated. Nothing seemed to be going right.

I planned to get up early, bake some fly cookies, and write an awesome new blog post. My cookie dough was ready. I just needed to sprinkle in the flies—when I dropped the fly jar. All of the flies escaped! They were all over the place—on the floor, on the ceiling, and even sitting on my favorite chair.

Don't get me wrong—I like flies, but mostly in cookies.

I was going to have to settle for just plain cookies. Even worse, the flies were gobbling up all the cookie dough and licking their sticky little feet. There was nothing left.

I was ready to explode when I remembered my Granny Frog saying, “When you're feeling upset, put your toes in the grass.”

I did what Granny Frog said. I stormed outside and sat in the grass. I took a deep breath and let it out very slowly. I felt the blades of grass beneath my feet and took another deep breath while listening to the robin sing as she built her nest.

I noticed how blue and beautiful the sky was and watched the puffy white clouds float by so slowly, they barely seemed to move. I started to feel so much better. It really works! People call this 'grounding', but us frogs call it 'toes in the grass'.

Have you ever practiced grounding by putting your toes in the grass? Tell me about it in the comment section below.

When I mess up on my math or handwriting, I don't give up. I just try again because my "momma bear" helps me. :)

One time I messed up on my karate skills and was very frustrated! But instead of giving up, I just tried again & I felt much better by fixing my mistake.
